The Hobby Area District contracts with Precinct 2 to increase security in our area. Deputy Tran with Constable Jerry Garcia’s Office is one of the dedicated officers for our district.

On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at approximately 9:00 a.m., he observed a suspicious vehicle in a business parking lot located at the 7900 block of Bellfort. Deputy Tran noticed that the vehicle was driving slowly through the parking lot with no license plates displayed on the vehicle. Deputy Tran knew that this was a common trend for criminals to use fresh stolen vehicles, remove the license plates, and commit other crimes such as robberies and burglaries.

Knowing this information, Deputy Tran proceeded to investigate further and pull the suspect over. While doing so, Deputy Tran attempted to have the suspect exit the vehicle for further questioning, but the suspect left the vehicle in drive. As the suspect jumped back into the vehicle, he began to flee from Deputy Tran.

A short vehicle pursuit took place and eventually the suspect struck a tree, which immobilized his vehicle. The suspect then exited his vehicle and fled on foot. A Houston Police K9 quickly made the scene and was able to successfully track the suspect into a nearby vacant house where the suspect was located hiding in the attic.

At this time the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Jeremy Moore, 31 years old, was charged with Felony Evading in a Motor Vehicle, as well as Felony Felon in Possession of a Firearm after deputies located a firearm on the floorboard of his vehicle after the crash. Mr. Moore was also found to have two open Felony Warrants through the Harris County Sheriff’s Department for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Deputy Tran and the rest of our deputies are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of you and your family.
