Currently, the District’s Nominating Committee seeks to fill a vacancy in Director Position No. 12 of the board.

According to the state law that created the District, to be qualified to serve as a director, a person must be at least 18 years old and:

an owner of property in the district,
an owner of stock, whether beneficial or otherwise, of a corporate owner of property in the district,
an owner of a beneficial interest in a trust that owns property in the district, or
an agent, employee, or tenant of a person covered by one or more of the first three categories just listed.

The Hobby Area Management District is a political subdivision created by the Texas State Legislature to provide services and programs designed to enhance the area’s economic vitality, public safety, mobility, and attractiveness.  Its directors are public officials required to swear or affirm the same oath of office as the Governor and any elected or appointed official of the state of Texas.  That is, to swear to faithfully execute the duties of the office and to the preserve, protect, and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Texas.

The Board of Directors meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 12 noon at the District’s community room located at 8866 Gulf Freeway, Suite 301. Candidates must agree to participate in the Board’s regular meetings and serve on at least one committee. The current term of Position No. 12 expires June 1, 2027, and may be renewable for a new four-year term upon the Board’s recommendation and approval by the Mayor and Houston City Council. Currently, there are no limits on the number of terms a director may serve.
