The Hobby Area Management District has joined forces with the Houston Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (HCPAAA) to support the “Hydrate the Officers” initiative. At their board meeting on January 15, the Hobby Area Board approved a generous fund request of $7,260 to aid the program, which will directly benefit the Southeast and Clear Lake Divisions of the Houston Police Department.

The “Hydrate the Officers” program is designed to ensure that officers and first responders have access to essential hydration while serving the community. HCPAAA will manage the logistics by ordering, scheduling pickups, and paying for pallets of water whenever the Southeast and Clear Lake Divisions request supplies. Jeanette Einkauf, the program’s coordinator, will personally oversee the process, meeting officers at the loading dock and assisting with the safe transportation of the water.

“We make a big deal out of the officers picking up their pallets of water,” said Einkauf. “We even provide snacks to show them how much they are appreciated. It’s not just about the water; it’s about making sure the officers know they’re supported and valued.”

The program goes beyond water distribution. Throughout the year, HCPAAA organizes meals, snacks, and special events to uplift the officers’ spirits. For example, the annual “Together We Give Thanks” meal during Thanksgiving invites all first responders to come together and enjoy a hearty meal. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, Easter, July 4th, or Christmas, HCPAAA ensures that officers feel cared for with treats, thank-you notes, and acts of kindness.

“Our goal is to keep officers hydrated and provide encouragement,” Einkauf added. “We understand how challenging their roles can be, and we want them to know that there are people in the community who support and care for them.”

Safety is also a priority in the program. When officers pick up their pallets of water, the HCPAAA team ensures the loads are securely fastened to prevent any accidents during transport. This attention to detail underscores the program’s commitment to not only hydrating officers but also ensuring their safety in every aspect.

The Hobby Area Management District’s contribution will help sustain these efforts throughout the year. By funding the water and enabling HCPAAA to carry out their mission, the district demonstrates its commitment to supporting law enforcement and fostering a sense of community.
