JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Executive Director
Hobby Area District is seeking an Administrative Assistant to perform a variety of tasks to support the district as a desirable place to live, work, and play. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Direct district assessment payers to the appropriate resources or staff as applicable.
- Provide information and forms to the district’s assessment payers.
- Manage the social media postings on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Perform general administrative tasks.
- Coordinate and assist with district activities.
- Performs special assignments and research as requested.
- Create periodic reports for senior staff as needed.
- Staff support for board and committee meetings.
- Work as a team member with other employees.
- Complete paperwork with specified time restraints.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
- Deal with others in a professional manner.
- May include, but not limited to, event support, special/temporary assignments due to various district/departmental needs, and other projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Communicate effectively with the business owners, business representatives, elected officials, other employees, contractors, etc., both oral and written.
Knowledge:
- Departmental policies concerning paid leave, military leave, overtime, and manpower requirements.
- City ordinances and state laws relevant to the district.
- OSHA standards and regulations concerning employee safety.
- General functions and operations of Texas Water Code.
- Understand and interpret city and state ordinances, laws and regulations.
- Departmental and district procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License or equivalent.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents and governmental regulations.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to effectively speak and present information when necessary.
- Proven administrative experience
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills and multitasking ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software.
