A Message from Executive Director Jerry Lowry
With recent transportation, beautification and business development projects, the Hobby Area District has been hard at work making our community a better place to live, work, visit and invest. Aside from the satisfaction we take in improving the Hobby area for residents and business owners, it has been incredibly rewarding to form strong relationships with neighbors and community stakeholders.
This year, we were proud to partner with METRO Houston to unveil 22 newly designed bus shelters along Bellfort and Broadway, and advocate for plans connecting a rail line to Hobby Airport. Guided by the findings of our 2018 Target Industry Study, which drew on feedback from the local business community to identify three industries positioned for growth—gateway operations, advanced manufacturing and professional services—we launched our Hobby 2 Opportunity (H2O) business retention and expansion program this fall.
H2O initiatives like business networking breakfasts and happy hours have allowed us to connect professionals in the Hobby area who have a passion for making it an attractive, connected, talented and celebrated place for residents and businesses alike.
Thank you for your support and willingness to collaborate to improve our community. We look forward to seeing you at our annual State of the District in February and we wish you a Thanksgiving filled with togetherness and gratitude.
Executive Director, Hobby Area District
