Fourth of July SparklerHouston has no shortage of options for celebrating 4th of July, whether you’re looking for family activities or a night out on the town. Throw on some red, white and blue and check out all the awesome events going on around the city. From fireworks displays, concerts and barbecues to parades and bar specials, don’t miss these exciting Independence Day celebrations in the Houston area.

ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights: Star-Spangled Salute

Miller Outdoor Theatre | Concert 8:30 p.m., Fireworks 10 p.m.

Accessible via METRORail: Yes

Grab a spot on the lawn and enjoy patriotic tunes from the Houston Symphony. Be sure to stick around for the finale fireworks! Free tickets for the covered seating area are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30 AM-1:00 PM. Tickets are not required for lawn seating. Rain or shine event.

Pearland’s Celebration of Freedom

Pearland High School Football Stadium | 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Family-friendly: Yes

Pet-friendly: No

Join the City of Pearland to celebrate America! A military salute kicks off the festivities, which include food, live entertainment, inflatables and a fireworks display inside Pearland High School football stadium. Seating and parking are free with complimentary shuttle pick up and drop off.

Pasadena’s 4th Fest

Pasadena Convention Center & Fairgrounds | 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Family-friendly: Yes

Pet-friendly: No

This is one of Pasadena’s largest city-sponsored events with fireworks, food vendors, live music, a car show, a BBQ cook-off, a kid zone and more. For information, call 713-475-7048.

4th of July Weekend at CityCentre

CityCentre | 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Family-friendly: Yes

Pet-friendly: No

Head to CityCentre for an evening of live country and rock music by the Texas Unlimited Band. A 15-minute fireworks display will take place at 9:30 p.m. The event is free but parking is $10 so arrive early to get a good spot. In the event of rain, the event will be cancelled.

Freedom Over Texas featuring Chris Young

Eleanor Tinsley Park | 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Cost: $8 online/$10 door

Family-friendly: Yes

Pet-friendly: No

Be a part of one of Houston’s largest patriotic celebrations in downtown. Live music by Chris Young, Cupid and the Dance Party Express and The Mavericks will entertain the crowd as fireworks dazzle overhead. Tickets are required for entry. Kidpendence Day

Children’s Museum of Houston | 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Bring the whole family to our neighbors in the Museum District at the Children’s Museum. There will be a special appearance by Captain America (between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.) along with founding fathers George Washington and Benjamin Franklin (noon to 2:30 p.m.). Don’t miss the patriotic instruments of the All-City HISD High School Band at 1 p.m., followed by the ever-exciting confetti cannons during the National Anthem. Red, white and blue attire encouraged.
