On Wednesday, March 8, students from Houston Can Academy – Hobby visited Houston’s William P. Hobby airport for the first time, ever. With help from State Representative Carol Alvarado’s office, the Hobby Management District and Southwest Airlines, these students had their first airport experience and will be well prepared for their upcoming trip to our Nation’s capital over Spring Break.
The students’ tour included a ticket counter / baggage check-in experience, a security checkpoint processing experience and a gate experience. All of these encounters will help the students as they embark on what will be a historic, educational and well earned trip. Thanks to their many fundraising efforts they will be able to participate in the Close Up program which will allow them to visit capitol hill and many other landmarks. As members of the Student Council, these students hope to learn more about government and how this great nation has grown.
Texans Can Academies strives to provide the highest quality education for all students, especially those who have struggled in a traditional high school setting, in order to ensure their economic independence. There are three locations in the Houston area that serve over 900 students.
